Amritsar : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised state Minister for Medical Education and Research Anil Joshi and Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government for making mockery of the rules set for the appointments and elevations in the department.
Reacting to media reports on the appointments of doctors on senior posts without fulfilling the equired qualification, AAP state Convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur and party leader Dr Balbir Singh said that these cases shows that there are no rule of law in Punjab and ministers of SAD-BJP government are supreme.
Chhotepur said, “Appointment of Dr Bachan Lal Bhardwaj as principal of Government Medical College, Patiala, was done in violation of the rules as his name was on the 35th place in seniority list. It is sheer discrimination with the other candidates who are much more eligible than Dr Bhardwaj. The appointment done on the directions of Anil Joshi was illegal according to Punjab Medical Education Service Rules, 2016.”
In a similar way, Dr Bhupinder Singh Brar was appointed as the Medical Superintendent in Patiala College’s hospital without being fulfilling the condition of seniority. Dr Brar even did not have the required experience of five years needed for the appointment.
Dr Balbir Singh said, “The rules were thrown to the wind while appointing Dr Baljinder Pal Singh Bal as principal of Government Medical College, Amritsar despite being on the 21st spot in the seniority list. The only additional qualification he carries is being the neighbour of Minister Anil Joshi.”
The leaders said that the educated and deserving people are not being appointed on the government posts they deserve but the near and dears of SAD-BJP leaders are given key post in government offices violating the rules. They said that AAP will never tolerate the discrimination with the deserving candidates and continue to raise the voice of the
masses.
