Captain seeks Sushma’s help in rescuing Punjabi youth in Malaysia

Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh has sought urgent intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for facilitating the return of seven Gurdaspur youth stranded in Malaysia after being maltreated by their employer.

Referring to the media reports that how the youth were cheated by a travel agent promising them a lucrative and respectable job, but actually ending up as slaves, Capt Amarinder told the Minister that their passports had been taken away by their employer. With the result, he added, they are stuck and stranded and have now taken shelter in a Gurdwara there.

The PCC president urged the minister to take up the matter with the Malaysian government to get back their passports or to arrange their travel documents so that they can return back home.

Seeking her immediate intervention, he apprehended that the youth may meet the same fate like those still stranded in Iraq and about whose plight nobody has any clue.
