Chandigarh : Rebuffing Congress poll strategist Prashant Kishor over his parleys with expelled party leaders Bir Devinder Singh and Jagmeet Singh Brar, Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh today said the question did not arise of accepting these leaders back into the party fold.

Talking to The Tribune, Capt Amarinder said Prashant Kishor should confine himself to his brief of preparing the party’s strategy for the Assembly elections. “No one has authorised him to hold interactive sessions with expelled party leaders.”

He said: “There is no question of accepting any expelled leader back in the party. I am very clear on the issue of discipline in the party. Anyone breaching it and going beyond the party’s policy would be shown the door.”

He said “managing the party affairs is a job of the party’s leadership and no one else could be allowed to do this job”.

Posing a question to Kishor, Capt Amarinder said, “Was he allowed by Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar to interfere in internal affairs of parties?”

Kishor had earlier worked as a poll strategist for Modi and Nitish Kumar.

Parleys with Bir Devinder and Brar have antagonised leaders in the Amarinder camp, who point out that it has created a wrong impression in the rank and file of the party.

A functionary of the poll strategist’s team said engaging dissidents was meant to create confusion in the minds of their supporters as they were  trying to re-group against Amarinder and woo other peeved party leaders.
