Chandigarh : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised the SAD-BJP alliance for adopting “double standards” in the apex court over river water dispute.
“The BJP stands exposed for taking an anti-Punjab stand on the state’s river water issue in the apex court even as it is in alliance with the SAD,” said AAP’s legal cell head Himmat Singh Shergill.
Shergill, who was also accompanied by AAP’s spokesperson Kultar Singh, was referring to the reports, according to which the Centre had taken an anti-Punjab stand on Punjab’s river water issues.
Shergill said the Centre in the apex court had supported the cause of Haryana and Rajasthan and their right over the Punjab’s river waters. He said Badal and his party had no moral right to stay in alliance with the BJP.
March to Delhi: CM to AAP
Meanwhile, days before Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) scheduled protest in front of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s residence on May 16, Badal said here today that AAP leaders of Punjab should instead organise a march towards Delhi against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for his government’s “doublespeak” on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue.
Stating that his "doors have always been open" for everyone to discuss any issue concerning Punjab, Badal said that AAP leaders were interested only in gheraoing his residence in an undemocratic manner.
We won’t ban liquor: Chhotepur
Jalandhar: AAP leader Sucha Singh Chhotepur said here on Friday that if AAP came to power in Punjab, it would not impose a ban on liquor. He said, “Liquor is an addiction but not a life-threatening one. Substances such as ‘chitta’, smack and heroine are addictive as well as life-threatening. Our thrust would be on stopping their distribution.”
