Ludhiana : A few hours after a huge list of office bearers of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) was announced, the voices opposing the new list gets louder on Saturday evening. However, some Congress leaders were busy in celebrating their appointments but at the same time the Congressmen rejected the list.

Former Youth Congress president and senior Congress leader Amarjit Singh Tikka said the urban Sikhs were ignored in the new list of the Congress party. It was the time when Congress has formed government by using the name of Manmohan Singh as Prime ministerial candidate. At that time the large number of Urban Sikhs have supported Party and helped in forming the Congress government with huge margin.

Tikka said that it is disappointing that like other political parties Congress has also ignored urban Sikhs and given representation to land and sand mafia. Tikka was pointing out at one Congress leader who was trying to get Vidhan Sabha ticket from Ludhiana east constituency. The same leader was today appointed as General Secretary of PPCC.

The new list by Congress also shows that Congress MP from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu has say in the new list of PPCC. The local leaders who were close to Bittu got prime positions in the party organisational structure. Close aide of Bittu, Gurpreet Bassi Gogi managed to secure his presidentship. Meanwhile, Gurdev Singh Lapran and K K Bawa were appointed as Ludhiana Congress president Rural and General Secretary PPCC, respectively. Both the leaders were close to Bittu.

The new list also led to resentment among Manish Tewari faction. Former district Congress president Pawan Dewan who was a close aide of Tewari and Captain Amarinder was left out from the organisational structure of the party. Dewan was again eyeing on the post of district Congress or General Secretary of PPCC.
