Patiala : Expelled leader of Congress Bir Devinder Singh on Thursday stated that he had decided not to attend the conclave summoned by another expelled Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar at Chappar Chiri on May 21
A decision to this effect has been taken here on Thursday evening after a crucial meeting of Bir Devinder Singh’s supporters and well-wishers as there was a unanimity among his supporters not to take any decision in haste and adopt a wait-and-watch approach to the political scenario in the state.
While conveying his decision, Bir Devinder Singh, in a statement, added that the whole matter has been thoroughly deliberated in the meeting and it was concluded that no step be taken in any kind of haste and after proper evalution of the political scenario of the state, any future deciding step be taken.
He said that the members in the meeting felt that even as Jagmeet Singh Brar has extended him an open invitation for joining hands at the proposed conclave at Chappar Chiri on May 21, but so far Brar’s vision was not clear for the run-up to 2017 Punjab assembly elections. He said that the meeting also felt that Brar had a soft corner for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and besides, he was also thinking about Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) but failed in speaking his mind over the matter.
Just a day before the meeting, Bir Devinder Singh, while talking to Daily Post, said that he was a true Congressman from his heart as he had served the party for 40 long years. He even said that its now up to the Congress high command to take a decision about him and he was waiting for a call from the party high command.
