New Delhi : The Punjab Congress will initiate the exercise to identify issues to be incorporated in its manifesto for the coming Assembly elections, Congress MLA Rana Gurjit Singh said here today. The party manifesto would be released much before the announcement of the election schedule.

Capt Amarinder and his 11-member delegation had identified issues related to NRIs during their recent visit to the US, he said. “If voted to power, we will institute a “single window” mechanism under the watch of the Chief Minister’s office to address issues concerning the NRIs,” he said. A fast-track court would be set up for speedy trial of disputes involving the NRIs.

The manifesto would also mention ways to improve education and employment opportunities besides the party’s stand on riverwaters, the drug menace and law and order.

“The Punjab Congress Committee is in the election mode. The coming poll battle will essentially be between the SAD-BJP alliance and the Congress,” the MLA added.
