PATIALA: There is no law and order in the state and the Punjab Police have become a private army of the ruling government in the state, said Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira, here on Saturday.

Referring to the attack on Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, he said, “When even preachers are not safe in Punjab, how can a common man feel secure in this regime?”

Khaira, who had gone to meet Dhadrianwale at Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwar Sekhupura, near Patiala, on Saturday, alleged that everyone knew who were behind the attack. “There is no law and order in Punjab now,” he added.

Talking to the media in Patiala, he said, “Dhadrianwale was in forefront during the agitation against the police firing at Behbal Kalan when the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib issue was blown out of proportion and he is being targeted for that. The police have arrested the accused and it has become clear who are behind this attack. Now, political persons might be targeted in the future,” said Khaira.

‘NOT AFRAID OF DEFAMATION CASE’

Speaking about the defamation case filed by cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, party leaders Ashish Khetan and Sanjay Singh; Khaira, said, “If Majithia is trying to create fear, we want to make it clear that AAP will not step back. Everyone knows in the state about the role and links of Majithia with the drug dealers. The investigations in the drug racket case were deliberately dictated by the state government. If AAP is voted to power in the state, all the cases related to corruption would be re-opened and thoroughly investigated,” said Khaira.
