DW BUREAU / Chandigarh : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lambasted Dera Bassi Akali MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) NK Sharma for not paying his electricity dues amounting to more than Rs. 1 crore pertaining to his real estate business hence allegedly causing losses to the state exchequer.

AAP senior leader and party spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira alleged Sharma who is a close associate of SAD, president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, has been looting the state exchequer with immunity while the Parkash Singh Badal led Punjab government simply looked away.

Khaira alleged such is the influence of Sharma over the SAD-BJP government that even Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) refused to name and shame him as a defaulter and also denied information about his pending power bills sought under the Right to Information (RTI).

Khaira said Sharma was already facing two cases under The Environment (protection) Act, 1986, registered by Punjab State Pollution Control Board

(PSPCB) for violating various norms during the construction of his real estate projects with impunity near Zirakpur and the surrounding areas.

Khaira alleged Sharma was also caught red handed in Delhi while illegally distributing money in his car to purchase votes for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) during the Delhi assembly polls in 2015. “Sharma is lying when he says his entire real estate business is being looked after by his brother,” Khaira lamented.

According to Khaira, Sharma is a habitual offender and has close proximity with Sukhbir and other Akali leaders only because of his alleged money minting ability.
