CHANDIGARH: Supporting the demand of Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala for a CBI probe into the murderous attack on him on May 17 in Ludhiana, Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh on Tuesday asked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal why was he afraid of it.

The PPCC president criticised Badal for rejecting the demand for a CBI probe. He pointed out that two weeks had passed since the preacher was attacked and one of his companions was killed. He asked as how come the police were not able to trace the culprits when they already had the clues after tracing the vehicles used in the attack.

“There is no doubt that Badal is trying to shield someone and that is why he has rejected the CBI probe,” the former Chief Minister observed, while saying that there was no point in letting the police investigate the matter when the victim had said that he did not have any faith in the local police.

At the same time, Amarinder assured that it was a matter of few months when the Akali government would be sent packing off and the Congress would take over. “We will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice and six months is not a long period,” he asserted.
