Amarinder to stage dharna against Kolianwali at Badal village on June 18

Chandigarh : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday announced to lead a dharna at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s village Badal in Muktsar district on June 18.
The protest has been scheduled against the alleged multi-crore recruitment scam involving a prominent Akali leader of Lambi assembly segment. Disclosing the identity of the Akali leader in his allegations, the former Chief Minister said, “Earlier during my tenure as CM I had put Ravi Inder Sidhu in jail for a recruitment scam in Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and I promise that this time, Dyal Singh Kolianwali will be on the target.”
“The man in question enjoys full support and patronage of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, so we are going hold dharna in his village,” he explained. Kolianwali, however, denied the allegations, saying that he was ready to face any inquiry.
Speaking further, Amarinder said that he would also be leading a dharna on June 8 at Dina Nagar in Gurdaspur to protest against the pending payment of the sugarcane farmers, followed by another dharna on June 13 at Jalandhar against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
On the occasion, Amarinder announced that 60 sarpanchs belonging to the Aklai Dal and the BJP from Fazilka area were joining the party, of whom he mentioned that 53 were present in the hall.
Capt for more powers to state unit
Amarinder Singh, while replying to a media query, said that he was of strong viewpoint that the regional units of the national parties should be given more powers to deal with their local issues at their end only.“Regional parties are having this privilege to take the call on their issues but here the case is altogether different,”said Amarinder, adding that “I know better than those sitting in Delhi how to deal with Badals in Punjab.
Favours reservation on economic ground
Amarinder, who is also the president of the All India Jat Maha Sabha, favoured reservation for the economically weaker sections among the general categories without disturbing the existing reservation policy.He also appealed for peace and caution during the proposed strike for the Jat reservation in Haryana.
Also favours Rahul to take over
On being asked about his take on the rejig issue at top of the Congress, Amarinder said: “Sonia Gandhi is a brilliant leader. I have said that she has been working (as Congress President) for the last 20 years. If she feels that time has come to give it to a new generation, then she should pass it on and we will fully support Rahul (to take over) as he is quite perceptive,”said Amarinder.
