CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh met chief election commissioner (CEC) Dr Nasim Zaidi in Delhi on Friday and apprised him about the “deteriorating” law and order in Punjab and “bogus votes” being prepared ahead of assembly polls in the state.
Amarinder submitted a memorandum to the CEC, accusing the ruling Akali-BJP combine of preparing bogus votes on a large scale. Party leaders Lal Singh, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Rana KP Singh, Sukh Sarkaria, Ajaib Singh Bhatti, Navtej Singh Cheema, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar and Sandeep Sandhu accompanied him. Amarinder said the Akalis had misused official machinery in the 2012 state elections and used police vehicles and ambulances for transporting cash for buying votes.
