STATE CONGRESS PRESIDENT SLAMS CENSOR BOARD FOR DEMANDING REMOVAL OF REFERENCES TO PUNJAB IN SHAHID KAPOOR-STARRER
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday slammed the censor board for its “unrealistic” ruling that all references to Punjab in the movie ‘Udta Punjab’ should be removed.
“It is like taking the soul out of the film’s body,” said the former chief minister, highlighting the movie revolved around the state and the drug problem it faces.
Amarinder said instead of trying to suppress the harsh reality of drug scourge in Punjab, the state government should better spend its energies in solving the problem.
SHUTTING YOUR EYES WON’T HELP’
“Running away and shutting your eyes and ears and trying to gag those who are trying to portray the truth is certainly neither going to help Punjab nor will it help you in anyway,” Captain told Akalis, adding the whole world already knew the truth about drug problem in Punjab and about those who are responsible for it.
The state Congress chief said he hoped better sense prevails over the censor board and it acts in an impartial manner to allow the movie get released “unscissored”.
