Chandigarh : State Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh today said he respected the party general secretary Kamal Nath’s decision to opt out of Punjab.

In a statement issued here today, Amarinder lashed out at the Akali Dal, BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party for their vicious campaign against Kamal Nath, just because they had nothing else to say about their own achievements and had tried to find an easy target.

“We all know that the Akalis are the most hated party in Punjab and the AAP myth has already exploded in Delhi. Hence, they tried to find a soft target in Kamal Nath,” he said, adding that Kamal Nath’s decision to opt out would go well with the party and the people of the state, who knew very well to what extent these political parties could go to malign their opponents.

Challenging all these parties to prove their allegations against Kamal Nath, he said they had no right to pronounce someone guilty and malign his image when he had already been exonerated by two commissions of inquiry probing the riots as also when no complaint had been made against him till 2006 when it was first made at HS Phoolka’s behest.
