Chandigarh : Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday slammed PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh for issuing threats to Punjab officers who are working tirelessly for the development of State and warned him to desist from such intimidation tactics which led to his downfall in general as well as by-elections contested in the past.

Reacting sharply to Capt Amarinder’s threats to government officials, SAD Secretary and Education Minister, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema reminded septuagenarian leader Amarinder that he is neither Chief Minister of the state nor officers serving in Punjab are under his ‘Royal Rule’.

He told Capt that officers of state government are directly working under a constitutionally elected government and he has no business to threaten bureaucracy which is working as per the wishes of democratically elected government. He said that Capt Amarinder Singh has failed to understand the pulse of people of Punjab.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
