Jagraon : In his one of the kind outreach campaign, Halke Vich Captain, (Captain in Constituency) PPCC Chief Amarinder Singh on Wednesday spent an entire day in Akali bastion Jagraon meeting over 3000 people, listening to their grievances for 180 minutes, and assuring them of quick redressalwithin 100 days of his government formation.

People thronged Captain’s ‘Lokan Da Durbar’ (People’s Court) on Wednesday morning filling forms with their grievances, against a receipt and a stamp of Captain’s assurance. Once face to face with Captain for nearly three hours, the public used the time to speak out their issues and seek Captain’s intervention.

When Manjeet Kaur, a cancer patient from Kaun-ke-Kalan, narrated her plight of not having received any health benefits under the government schemes, Captain said “It is unfortunate that the Badal Government has not taken any measures to tackle growing cancer menace”. Speaking about the Bathinda cancer trains, he said he will ensure treatment centres are set up for Cancer and Drugs related issues on priority

When Shingara Singh from Jagraon raised the issue of BPL cards being given to only Akali supporters, an assertive Captain said he will ensure blue cards and yellow cards are available for all those who deserve it. Urging police to take swift action he said he will look into the issue himself.

Amar Singh from Galib Kalan said an Akali leader forcibly took rs 2 lakh from him and no police has registered the case yet, Captain quickly asked his team to seek response and intervention from the local administration.

Avatar Singh from Pind Malle raised concerns of unemployment, to which Captain said one job per family is his guarantee. “Decade-long misrule by the Badals has ruined Punjab’s economy, left lakhs of youth unemployed, addicted to drugs, and caused widespread agrarian distress,” he added

People seeking redressal were asked to fill out their concerns in a form for record-keeping, submitted against a receipt. An IVRS in Captain’s voice will be sent within 72 hours of this submission along with an SMS confirmation. People can use the receipt number to check the status of their concerns online.

Captain also interacted with over 2000 local party workers, where they shared constituency issues and suggestions for the party campaign with him. Jaspal Singh from Khanna AC Ludhiana dist asked Captain to focus on youth and offered his full fledged support to him. “You are meeting Congress workers at every AC level. That in itself is a huge motivating factor for us,” he added.

115 more events are to be held across Punjab, thus taking Captain to every assembly constituency, meeting people, party workers, and the media, thus making them active stakeholders in setting the governance agenda for their state.
