Senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar addressing mediapersons in Jalandhar on Friday.
Smelling a scam, Jakhar alleged that wheat was already sanctioned by the central government under the Food Safety Act and ‘dal’ (pulse) has not been distributed during the past two years. “I will quit politics if the government proves that ‘dal’ has been distributed among atta-dal beneficiaries during the past two years,” said the Congress leader.
He questioned that if the reserved money under the scheme was not used for the same, then where it has gone? He said when our party came to power, it would inquire into this alleged scam.
Showing budgets’ copies, he said that `400 crore was r4eserved to buy 75,000 tonne pulses, 8.7 lakh MT wheat in 201415 and for the next financial year, it again kept `400 crore to buy 8.7 lakh MT tonne wheat and 65,000 tonne of pulses. He said that this year, the government has kept `700 crore for the same which may also be misappropriated.
Appealing to leaders of the BJP, who are taking part in the two-day meeting at Jalandhar, he asked them to take the matter of inflation with the NDA government due to which it has become difficult for a common man to lead a normal life.
