Manpreet Badal joins jobless teachers’ protest in Bathinda

BATHINDA: Senior Congress leader Manpreet Singh Badal on Saturday joined the protesting unemployed ETT, TET pass teachers at Jai Singh Wala village.

Manpreet Badal, while addressing the protesters, said that he would schedule a meeting of the union leaders with the election manifesto committee of the Congress for 2017 Punjab assembly polls and their issue would be included in the party’s manifesto. Manpreet also called an official of the education department to ask about the issue of protesters but claimed that he did not get any satisfactory answer.

The unemployed ETT and TET pass teachers have been staging protest atop water works tank in Jai Singh Wala village near here for past 41 days. These teachers have been demanding recruitment of 8,500 teachers under their cadre instead of total 4,500 as advertised by the Punjab government.

Recently, AAP leader and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann too had joined the ongoing protest on June 26.

State president of the union Amarjit Singh Kamboj said that the state government was not willing to listen to their demands and even a meeting wasn’t being fixed with the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to discuss their demands.
