Chandigarh : Advising caution and restraint, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday sought an independent and credible probe into the allegations, of masterminding the desecration of holy Quran, against the Aam Aadmi Party MLA Naresh Yadav.
“Since the needle of suspicion now points towards the both, the Akali-BJP as well as the AAP, it is important that there is a credible probe to find out the actual truth”, he said in a statement issued on Sunday.
“Given the sensitivity of the matter we need to exercise utmost restraint and caution”, Capt Amarinder warned, while adding, at the same time no guilty should be allowed to go scot-free. He said, it was a clear act of provocation done deliberately to hurt the sentiments of a particular community for vested interests.
Meanwhile, the Congress Legislature Party chief Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday warned both the ruling Akali Dal-BJP combine and the Aam Aadmi Party against playing with fire in Punjab as the people in the state had earlier suffered for more than a decade and they could not afford yet another turbulence.
Badal has cooked up case: aap
New Delhi: Rejecting the charge of its MLA’s involvement in the Malerkotla sacrilege incident, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday hit out at the BJP-SAD alliance in Punjab, saying its popularity has ‘rattled’ the ruling dispensation prompting it to ‘cook up’ cases. Sanjay Singh, party’s Punjab in-charge said that, “Badal has cooked up this case. Dirty politics by BJP and SAD has begun in the form of conspiracies to frame our MLAs. They are rattled by AAP’s popularity,” Singh said in a series of tweets.
