Congress frontal bodies to canvass door to door

Chandigarh : The Punjab Congress — moving ahead with its campaign strategy — has now tasked its eight frontal organisations to identify at least 10 members from each of the 117 state Assembly constituencies to work at the door-to-door level.
The frontal organisations are SC Department, OBC Department, Punjab Youth Congress, National Students Union of India, Indian National Trade Union of Congress, Mahila Congress, Kisan Cell and Sewa Dal.
The identified persons of the bodies, who would work parallel to the delegates of the district-level committees, will be equipped with special skills. Already a database of more than 6,000 such personnel has been created. They will be trained in the coming days.
Party’s poll strategist Prashant Kishor has been holding one-to-one meetings with the state heads of these organisations. The party has decided that the members will play an active role in the election campaign.
The party’s women’s wing, Mahila Congress, is being revived to take on the women wings of the Akali Dal and AAP.
It has also been decided that in programmes like ‘Coffee with Captain’ and ‘Halke vich Captain’, representation from these frontal organisations would be ensured.
To reach out to the field units of these bodies, many WhatsApp groups have been formed so that there is connectivity among various members across various districts.
