Channi writes to CM on quota in govt jobs

Chandigarh : Taking up the issue of reservations for SC/STs in government jobs, Congress CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

In the letter he has stated that the population of SC/STs in Punjab was 35 pc and of OBC it was 20 pc. The representation of these categories in government/ semi-government/corporations/ commissions/office of advocate general was negligible and they were not given positions in senior bureaucracy, it maintained.

Channi further states that the CM office had sent two files to him regarding appointment of two members each in the Punjab Public Service Ccommission and Information Commission. Already, the sitting members in both PPSC and Information Commission does not belong to the reserved categories. And now also the CMO had not recommended any name from SC/ST, OBC or any other minority community in both departments, he claimed.
