KARTARPUR/JALANDHAR: The increase in politicking as the assembly polls near should not come as a surprise. Giving a perfect example, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal criticised the SAD-BJP government, calling it the worst in Punjab’s history at a workers meet in the Kartarpur assembly segment on Friday.

Bhattal said this government had no right to stay in office because it had failed to bring in development and maintain law and order in the state. She said the state’s progress was crippled because the downtrodden sections of society, especially farmers, were left feeling suffocated under the Akalis’ rule.

“The Badal government that claims to be the champion of farmers has destroyed the agriculture sector. Farmers are unhappy because the government has neglected them,” she said. She also hit out at AAP and said the party had no blueprint ready for the state, adding that the party was resorting to gimmickry to make its presence felt in the state.
