Chandigarh : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today said senior Akali leader and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Virsa Singh Valtoha should apologise for “undermining” the Dalit icon, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Addressing a press conference here today, head of the AAP’s SC/ST wing Dev Mann termed the remarks of Valtoha against Dr Ambedkar during a TV debate in Amritsar yesterday as highly “condemnable and deplorable”. Mann said Valtoha had hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community and CM Parkash Singh Badal should sack him for such a “shameful act”.

Meanwhile, AAP MP Bhagwant Mann today alleged that the Badal government had hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs by making political use of a religious film, ‘Char Sahibzade’. He also condemned the transfer of an officer when she objected to the use of the film’s photos on the publicity vans of the Akalis.

“Once this honest woman officer (Baljit Kaur Dhillon) objected to the blasphemous act of the Badals, she was immediately transferred,” the MP said.
