QADIAN (GURDASPUR): Congress MLA Charanjit Singh Channi slammed Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for “looting” the state and its people during Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) - Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) 10-year-rule.

Channi was addressing a party rally organised by Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa, who is likely to be the Congress candidate from Qadian assembly constituency for the upcoming Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, here on Wednesday.
“Punjab’s deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has amassed the wealth through illegal means in order to become one of the richest men in India,” the MLA alleged.
Channi accused Sukhbir’s brother-in-law and Punjab’s revenue minister, Bikram Singh Majithia, of “running illicit trade of narcotics in the state under the patronage of SAD-BJP government”.
He also accuses the Badals of “controlling the sand, crusher, transport, hotels and liquor businesses in Punjab”.
Channi alleged that the SADBJP did not care about members of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes. He urged the SCs and OBCs to vote for Congress, which worked for the interest of these people.
On his views about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Channi said, “AAP is controlled by the Delhi leadership, which has no knowledge about the problems being faced by the people of Punjab.”
All India Congress Committee secretary and Punjab affairs in charge, Harish Chaudhary; Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) spokesperson Nimisha Mehta; Urh Murh Tanda MLA Sangat Singh Gilchian; Gurdaspur DCC president Ashok Chaudhary were among those present at the rally.
