Food scam accused to face courts in Mohali: Jakhar

Mohali : Senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar on Sunday openly declared that within one month of taking over in the state, the Congress government would see to it that all those responsible for the food embezzlement of Punjab, worth Rs 12,000 crore, be trialed at Mohali courts where he along with party workers had registered a case for the same for suitable punishment to SAD leaders guilty for the same.

Jakhar was speaking here where, in line with guidelines of Congress high command for Mission 2017 assembly election of Punjab, a meeting of Congress workers of Mohali constituency was held at District Congress Committee office, Industrial Area, Phase I, Mohali on Sunday.

Senior Congress leaders Sunil Jakhar, Manpreet Singh Badal, leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Charanjit Singh Channi, Samrala MLA and in-charge appointed by Congress High Command for Mohali district Amrik Singh Dhillon, MLA Rana Gurjit Singh, former PPCC president H S Hanspal, Harish Chaudhary, Dr Amar Singh, Rana Varinder and Mohali district Congress president and local MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu addressed the meeting of the gathering of the Congress workers. All the leaders, during their speeches, categorically criticised the SAD-BJP government. They further advised the workers to make individual contact programme in the district and make the public aware about the misdeeds of SAD-BJP government and should re-count the achievements of the Congress to the public during the regime of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the Centre and be prepared for 2017 assembly election so that Congress should come into power with a thumping majority.

The leaders also criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for playing with the sentiments of all religions, especially Sikhs and further said that their senior leaders are lacking the knowledge of the Punjabi culture and their manifesto was a bundle of election tactics as well as misleading to the public because their failure in their isolated state of Delhi was quite apparent and half of their leaders were facing trials for one reason or the other.
