SANAUR: Denying all rumours that he will be contesting the next elections from Samana seat, Congress MLA from Sanaur Lal Singh declared that he will fight the upcoming Punjab assembly elections from Sanaur.
Lal Singh organised a worker meeting-cum-rally in Sanaur on Wednesday. Although, Capt Amarinder Singh did not attend this rally, former MP Rana Gurjit Singh and Punjab Congress incharge Dr Amar Singh addressed the workers. “SAD MP Prem Singh Chandumajra and his companions spread the rumour that I am interested in contesting from the Samana assembly seat. But I will be here till my death and contest from the Sanaur seat only. The people of Sanaur showed faith in me in the last elections and in this elections as well, I will fight from the same seat,” said the Sanaur MLA.
As he slammed Chandumajra in his address repeatedly, Singh also declared Capt Amarinder Singh as Congress chief ministerial candidate from his side. “In the regime of Amarinder government, Congress had developed Punjab. But as deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal is claiming that they developed Punjab. I fail to find their development on roads, in agriculture, industry or employment. If Congress is voted to power, Capt Amarinder Singh will be the chief minister of Punjab and Sukhbir Singh Badal would run abroad,” Lal Singh said.
Meanwhile, former MP Rana Gurjit Singh said, “The Badal government failed to address Mata Chand Kaur murder and Malerkotla Quran desecration cases.”
