says congress will seek support and vote from people of the state after resigning from the state assembly

Jalandhar : Captain Amarinder Singh and Congress MLAs from Punjab will resign if decision of the Supreme Court in the SYL goes against Punjab. This was disclosed by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief and Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday while talking to the media at Kartarpur. Amarinder was here for his ongoing programme ‘Halke Vich Captain’ in Kartarpur of Jalandhar.

Captain told the media that after his resignation as MP and resignation of MLAs, Congress will go to the people and seek their support and vote. “We will take legal and constitutional measures to safeguard our interests like we did in 2004 when we enacted Punjab Termination of Agreements Act, 2004,” he said.

He raised his finger on the intentions of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on the SYL issue. “Badal wasted crucial time in getting the Governor’s assent to the unanimous resolution of the Vidhan Sabha on SYL, thus providing enough time to Haryana to move the SC. Either his intentions were not honest or he was not clear about that,” the PPCC president said.

Capt Amarinder Singh asked the Union government as to why it was not releasing the buffer stocks of the essential commodities in the market to check the skyrocketing prices. Interacting with the workers and people of the Kartarpur assembly segment, the former Chief Minister maintained that the buffer stocks are kept reserved for such emergency situations only.

“I wonder why the Centre remains unmoved when the common man is reeling under extreme economic stress due to record-breaking inflation,” he said, while pointing out that the BJP-led NDA government had come to power mainly on the issue of price rise and had promised ‘achhe din.’

Captain started his programme at Kartarpur Road where about 3,500 people attended the programme and about 2,100 submitted their written petitions. After that, he sat on a dharna at Dana Mandi in Kartarpur against the atrocities on Dalits in BJP-ruled Gujarat. After that, he interacted with Jalandhar media persons in a private college at Kartarpur.

He announced that once the Congress government was formed in the state, it will provide a one-time age relaxation for those who have crossed the upper age limit for recruitment in the government services during the last few years as there were no recruitments and they missed the chance.

Dal Khalsa attacks Capt for seeking free-hand to armed forces in Kashmir

Fatehgarh Sahib: Joining issues with Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh, the Dal Khalsa on Sunday hit out at him for advocating a free-hand to armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir and accused him of being ill-equipped about historical facts of the Kashmir dispute. Party head advocate Harpal Singh Cheema said that the statement of Captain Amarinder shows he has scant respect for human rights of the Kashmiri people. He objected to the contents of his write-up in which Capt Amarinder Singh has urged the Union government to allow full freedom of action to the army in Kashmir.
