Nangal : PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh held a ‘Halke vich Captain’ session in Nangal today.

The town is part of Anandpur Sahib constituency and is represented by senior BJP leader and Industry Minister MM Mittal.

Talking to the media, Amarinder criticised the AAP leaders, including Supreme Court lawyer HS Phoolka for seeking the intervention of PM Narendra Modi for withdrawal of the presidential reference on Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal issue.

The AAP was ignorant and unaware of the legal and constitutional niceties as after the SYL matter was referred to the SC by the President, the PM could hardly play any role in it, he said. When asked that the matter was raised by SC lawyer Phoolka also, he said that the latter was a lawyer of small grade and that he knew Phoolka since long.

Lashing out at CM Parkash Singh Badal he said that the CM was responsible for weakening Punjab’s case. Now the Akalis want to play with the sentiments of the people. The SAD was preparing for misadventure after the decision of SC on the issue. If the state lost the case, the Badals would resign and organise morchas where innocents would be sacrificed, he said.

On SYL, he said that under such conditions, Congress MPs in the state would also resign and adopt legal options to get justice for the people.

He said that he was not in touch with Navjot Singh Sidhu, Pargat Singh and Inderbir Singh Bolaria. He had made his offer to them through the media saying they were welcome to join as all three had old Congress ties.
