Patiala : All India Congress Committee (AICC)’s secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Punjab Asha Kumari on Thursday declared that Congress would form the next government in the state as the people of the state were totally demoralised with the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance.

Kumari was interacting with party workers belonging to the urban and rural areas and getting their views keeping in view the forthcoming state assembly elections in 2017.

While doing so, she also passed on to them the party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s message to fan out in their respective areas and work for strengthening the party at grassroot levels and make sure that the party swept the assembly elections.

On the occasion, she was accompanied by Punjab Congress vice-president Laal Singh and party’s MLA’s Brahm Mohindra, Preneet Kaur, Hardyal Singh Kamboj and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and party leader Gursharan Kaur Randhawa.

After the party workers’ meeting, while interacting with the media, she said that the Congress has nothing to do with Narendra Modi’s policies relating to not giving party tickets to those party leaders who have crossed 75 years of age. She said that in comparison the Congress knows fairly well how to provide honour to its elders or senior leaders because of this the party has decided to take use of all such leaders’ political experience during the party ticket distribution for the coming assembly elections in the state in 2017.

Kumari said that the people of the state are totally against the ruling alliance of SAD-BJP.
