HOSHIARPUR: All India Youth Congress (AIYC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday said that by selling dreams, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could not come to power in Punjab. Addressing a rally organised by the district Congress to mobilise workers of the Hoshiarpur assembly segment, he said that the rookie party was trying to befool the people with its rhetoric. "Quoting Shaheed Bhagat Singh or imitating his attire will not endear the AAP leaders to the public.

There is a huge gap between what they say and what they profess", said Warring.

Lambasting the SAD-BJP government, he said it had ruined the state's economy as well as its social fabric. "As if closing all employment avenues was not enough, the Akalis have wrecked the youth by pushing them in to drugs. People will teach them a lesson in the coming elections", he claimed.

He alleged that the SAD, which claimed to be a saviour of Punjab, had actually once pushed it into the cauldron of militancy. "Real saviour is Captain Amarinder Singh, who took the bold step of terminating water sharing agreements to save Punjab from becoming a desert,”, he said. He also accused the BJP of misusing religion for political gains.

CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi said that people, who are writing off the Congress, would get a big jolt when the party would sweep the forthcoming elections. A party which made the maximum sacrifices for the country, would always flourish, he said.

National SC Commission vice chairman Raj Kumar Verka exhorted the workers to gird up their loins for the elections.

Many of the speakers, including Warring, projected sitting MLA Sunder Sham Arora as the probable candidate from Hoshiarpur and appealed to the workers to ensure his win.
