Pathankot : The Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday challenged Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to convene a special session of the Assembly and substantiate his claim of having amended Section 5 of the Punjab Termination Agreements Act, 2004. He also questioned his denial regarding the first notifications issued by his government in 1978 to acquire land for the Satluj-Yamuna Link canal. Channi was addressing a gathering of workers in Pathankot.

“Badal is suffering from selective amnesia or is a habitual liar, who has been misleading the people over the years on the sensitive issue of SYL. It was the Badal government that issued the first notification for the acquisition of land for this canal. They made the commitment as part of the Punjab accord to complete the construction of this canal,” he asserted.

He called upon the Chief Minister to substantiate his claim about this amendment by producing the relevant record or apologise to the people of Punjab.

Channi also slammed Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for intelligence failure in the Pathankot attacks.
