New Delhi : Three Parliamentarians — Maheish Girri (BJP), Prem Singh Chandumajra (SAD) and HS Khalsa (AAP) — have asked the Lok Sabha Speaker to send AAP MP Bhagwant Mann to a rehab centre, alleging that he comes to the House intoxicated.

“We would be grateful if Mann is sent to a rehab centre for drugs/alcohol deaddiction on the Lok Sabha’s expenditure and it is only afterwards that he should be allowed to attend the House proceedings,” reads the trio’s letter.

A copy of the letter, addressed to the Committee on the Breach of Security of Parliament House, was sent to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. The MPs alleged that it was “common knowledge in Parliament” that Mann remained under the influence of liquor or other intoxicants.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh said such personal attacks from rivals had become all too predictable.

‘Bid to defame me’

Gidderbaha: Reacting to the three MPs’ demand, Mann said on Tuesday that his rivals were trying to defame him. “The BJP and the Akali Dal are losing ground in Punjab, so their leaders are giving statements without any proof,” he said at an AAP rally here. He said, “The Akalis earlier claimed that Punjab was free from drugs, but now they are opening a de-addiction centre even for girls in Amritsar.”
