Abohar : Congress state vice-president and Abohar MLA Sunil Jakhar today flayed the BJP and SAD-led Abohar Municipal Council for “ignoring” development works midway.
During his visit to the Jain Nagar Chowk near the main bus stand here, residents told him that work to connect the Jain Nagar Road with the main sewerage line started in May but was in a limbo now. The dug-up ground posed a threat to people’s lives, they rued. The council had repaired the bus stand road recently but dug it up the next day to lay underground pipes, resulting in the wastage of funds, alleged residents.
SAD-BJP leaders had nine years ago promised to solve the sewage problem of the locality but the work is yet to be done. Residents said they were apprehensive that the shops located on both sides of the road could cave in during rain. Jakhar said the state government had not deployed any Executive Officer and Municipal Engineer in the MC due to which there had been no supervision of work by experts.
