Jalandhar : A fortnight after he was suspended, Jalandhar Cantonment MLA Olympian Pargat Singh on Friday sent a letter to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, asking why he was not informed about his suspension by the party leadership, rather he learnt it from the media.

Pargat released the letter to the media and questioned Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president as well as Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s decision to suspend him without issuing a show-cause notice. A copy of the letter was also forwarded to SAD core committee members.

In the letter, Pargat Singh lauded the visionary leadership qualities of the CM and compared Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s functioning with him.

Pargat shared that he did not receive any official letter from the SAD about his suspension from the party. “I consider the decision of the SAD president to announce my suspension as unconstitutional, illogical, non-serious and dictatorial. If raising people’s voice, who sent me to Vidhan Sabha was unconstitutional and a sin, then I accept this decision of sick mentality,” he said.

The Jalandhar Cantonment MLA also said that SAD party leadership has gone astray from its principle foundation laid in 1920. “SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal was destroying the very foundation of the party, as humility was a distant word for him. The party (SAD), which made you CM for five terms was facing acute crisis today,” he stated.

He also said that in the past some years, not only the foundation of SAD received a severe dent but the state government’s functioning was also under the scanner. “Especially, issues like drugs mafia, corruption, land and sand mafia, unemployment and nepotism has affected the party’s image in the public,” he added.

The MLA also raised the issue of ‘Panth politics’ and said that some people within the party at the helm of affairs were responsible for causing a huge damage to the system. “In fact, the image of Punjabis across the national and international sphere has received a dent owing to the current system of politics,” Pargat maintained
