Abohar : Congress state vice-president and chief spokesman Sunil Jakhar today slammed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir Badal for “befooling” unemployed youth by making false promises.

He alleged in the manifesto released during the election campaigns in 2005 and 2012, the father-son duo had promised a large number of jobs to youth but only SAD activists were allowed to run business outlets in the garb of recruitments.

The Congress leader said the state cabinet at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on November 19, 2015, resolved to provide jobs to 1.13 lakh educated unemployed youths.

The list released by the government confirmed that 40,000 vacancies existed in Renewal Energy Department, 30,000 in Education Department, 5,300 in Health Department, 4,500 in Cooperatives, 6,200 in police and 2,000-3,000 each in other departments.

On November 19, Sukhbir Badal announced in Bathinda that the process of providing jobs would be completed in six months. But only the process to fill 6,200 posts in the Punjab Police had been initiated, he alleged. A test to recruit 2,664 clerks was conducted but appointment letters were not issued so far, he said.
