Sardulgarh (Mansa) : Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh on Tuesday hinted that some sitting party MLAs might be dropped in the coming elections depending on their performance and winnability.

Talking to reporters along the sidelines of the ‘Halqe vich Captain’ programme here, the PPCC president said the party had already started the process of identifying the candidates. He said various surveys by independent agencies were being carried out to assess the performance and winnability of ticket aspirants.

Replying to a question whether all sitting MLAs will be renominated, he said it would all depend on the winnability and if some sitting candidates were to be replaced then they would be.

Earlier, replying to a question on the CBI appeal against the acquittal of Sajjan Kumar in the anti-Sikh riots case of 1984, Capt said it was a welcome move as justice must be done and the guilty punished.

On the SYL issue, he said, “The Congress will go back to the people and seek their support so that it has adequate numbers in the Vidhan Sabha.”
