Chandigarh : Raising questions on the acquittal of ‘drug lord’ Jagdish Bhola and Maninder Singh Aulakh and Jagjit Singh Chahal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused Badals of pressurising Punjab Police in a bid to weaken the case. The party also alleged that this was being done to enable their acquittal by the court.

Head of the campaign committee and AAP MP Bhagwant Mann demanded an impartial probe in the drug-racket by a sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court and alleged that if Punjab Police would continue its probe into the racket, the accused would be acquitted in all cases pending against them.

Accompanying by Faridkot MP Sadhu Singh, Mann said, “How can a free and fair probe be expected from police, which comes under Home Minister Sukhbir Badal, whose brother-in-law Bikram Majithia was also named in the case by key accused Jagdish Bhola?”

“We have full faith in the judicial system, but a court decides any case on the basis of evidences produced by police, which directly comes under Sukhbir Badal,” AAP MPs said.

Had the probe been handed over to the CBI at the initial stage, the fate of the case against Bhola and others would have been different, Mann said while accusing PPCC chief Amarinder Singh of supporting Majithia by rejecting the demand of a CBI probe against him. Capt” owes an explanation why he objected to the CBI probe in the drug racket?” Mann quipped.
