Jalandhar: Punjab Congress vice-president and Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh on Saturday questioned Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s downplaying of the drug addiction figures in the state by quoting the dope tests conducted on the aspirants for police constables jobs.

In a statement, Rana said that rather the figures were more worrying as those who tested positive for the drugs in the recruitment tests need to be added to the already existing figures.

He pointed out that all those drug addicts would naturally have avoided applying for the jobs since the government had announced it well in advance that dope tests would be done. He urged Sukhbir that instead of running away from the problem, he should acknowledge its existence.
