Declare Capt as CM candidate: Bhattal

Sangrur : Senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today said in view of the popularity of Capt Amarinder Singh, the high command should declare him as the party’s CM candidate.

She said the Congress was likely to release its election manifesto on the occasion on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

Bhattal, chairperson of the party’s manifesto committee, along with convener Manpreet Badal today held a meeting here. The committee members noted the suggestions of local residents.

Bhattal said they would conclude their meetings with people in the state by month-end. A draft of the manifesto would be prepared in September and the party would most likely release the final document on October 2. She said in case some shortcomings were found, the manifesto might be released on November 14.

Bhattal also said she would contest from her Lehragaga Assembly seat.

Manpreet said they would also get their manifesto published in the newspapers to make all stakeholders aware of it. He welcomed the court’s decision to quash the appointment of 18 Chief Parliamentary Secretaries.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
