Baba Bakala (Amritsar) : Punjab Congress leaders on Thursday declared a war on drugs and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and unanimously resolved to throw out the SAD-BJP government in the state as it had damaged and devastated Punjab beyond redemption. The sentiment was summed up best by the PCC president Capt Amarinder, saying, “I want to see the sparkling smile back on every Punjabi’s face.”
Leading the charge, PCC president Capt Amarinder Singh promised that once the Congress forms government in the state, he will set things in order. “One generation is already lost and we have to save the next generation,” he said.
Addressing a huge rally, the PCC president reiterated his promise that he will finish the problem of drugs within four weeks. He said, he will set up a special team of highly competent officers for the purpose and expressed confidence that the guilty will be jailed before four weeks.
The former Chief Minister said, not only had the SAD-BJP alliance pushed the state into drugs, they have also destroyed it economically, while pointing out to Rs 1.25 lakh crore debt that state owes.
Capt Amarinder cautioned people against the misleading and alluring promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. He said, the AAP was declining fast in Punjab as it did not have any leader, any ideology and any programme to rally people around. He also referred to the charges leveled by the AAP National Council member Pavitar Singh on Wednesday wherein he revealed that he was asked to pay Rs 50 lakh for the party ticket, while the actual rate was Rs 2.5 crore. “Can you expect a clean government from those who have started selling tickets?” he asked.
