JALANDHAR: Former MLA and district Congress (rural) president Jagbir Brar on Tuesday condemned reports about his moving back into the Akali fold..

Addressing a press conference at his house here, Brar said he had no “secret meeting” with deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal and revenue minister Bikram Majithia.

“Neither I am joining the SAD nor have I had any meeting with Sukhbir or Majithia in past four years. The reports carried in a section of the media are baseless and ridiculous. I am slapping legal notice on those media houses who published the news that I am joining the SAD,” said Brar.

After a section of the press carried the news on Tuesday, it spread like a wildfire in the state and compelled Brar to leave a function at his sister’s house at Chandigarh midway and rush to Jalandhar.

“I know this rumour was deliberately spread in political circles by my opponents within the Congress a few days back. Different stories are being cooked to sabotage my claims from Jalandhar cantonment. Let me clarify that I joined the Congress under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh and will remain in the party, whatever be the political situation in near future,” said the former MLA.
