LUDHIANA: To counter the rising influence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in constituencies where it has declared its candidates in the recent past, Congress member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu has asked the youth wing of the party to start door-to-door campaigning.
AAP has declared five candidates from Ludhiana district so far. The rallies by AAP candidates had received overwhelming response and giving nightmares to Congress and even Shiromani Akali DalBharatiya Janata Party (SADBJP) alliance.
Youth Congress will campaign in the areas, including Ludhiana west, Ludhiana East, Dakha, Sahnewal and Payal where Ahbaab Grewal, Daljit Singh Bhola, HS Phoolka, Harjot Bains and Gurpreet Singh Lapran have been pitched for the upcoming RAJEEV RAJA, chief, district youth Congress elections.
Youth Congress has been directed by Bittu to highlight the developmental work done during the regime of former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
The move is also aimed to counter the AAP in these areas that was spreading its feathers at a fast pace.
Congress has major stakes in Ludhiana west and east constituencies while it would try to gain its lost grounds in Payal constituency where Tej Prakash Singh son of former chief minister Beant Singh was the member legislative assembly (MLA) from Payal for consecutive times from 2002. Bharat Bhushan Ashu is the present Congress MLA from Ludhiana west while Ranjit Singh Dhillon of SAD represents Ludhiana east constituency.
Ravneet Singh Bittu said that AAP is a broken house in Punjab and people of the state must know that the party would not be able to reverse the misdeeds of SAD as it was not able to save itself.
“Members of youth Congress would visit different areas where AAP has declared their candidates and will show them the actual face of AAP,”said Bittu.
Rajeev Raja, chief of district youth Congress, said that the campaign in the constituencies has already begun. ]
“We are highlighting the policies of Congress that would help the state to revive its economy and are also exposing AAP and SAD that are hell bent to create communal tension in the state,”said Raja.
