Chandigarh : Embarrassed over the thin presence of Congress legislators during the last Budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Congress high command has issued instructions to the state leadership to ensure the presence of all party MLAs during the forthcoming Assembly session beginning on September 8.
The leadership has also decided to take a serious note of MLAs remaining absent from the session.
CLP Leader Charanjit Channi said it would be a full house this time. “A meeting of the CLP has been called at my residence on September 1 and it would be chaired by PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh,” he said.
Extend session by 20 days: Channi
Channi said the session should be of at least extended by 20 days more. “The government knows this is the last session and there are important issues to be discussed regarding the working of this government for the last 10 years. These important facts have to be brought in the public domain. We have demanded that the session should be of 25 days.”
He demanded special discussion on the issue of drugs, law and order, farmers suicides, atrocities on Dalits etc.
