Jalandhar : Following alleged allegations against him, Kulwinder Singh Babbal, a Lubana community leader from Bholath assembly seat on Tuesday challenged Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Sukhpal Khaira to prove that his family in the United States (US) paid any donation to Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh.
Babbal said that rather it was Khaira who used to get donation from his family during his visits to New Jersey (US).
Addressing a press conference, Babbal asked Khaira to either withdraw his allegations or tender an unconditional apology to him and Capt Amarinder, failing which he would file a defamation suit against him.
“If Khaira proved that he (Babbal) or his family paid any domation Amarinder for getting the Bholath assembly ticket, he would withdraw his candidature from that seat”, he said, adding that he has applied from Bholath assembly segment.
The Lubana leader asked Khaira as to why was he concerned about whom the congress party was giving a ticket in Bholath? “The fact was that Khaira was worried as he was going to lose his security deposit in case he decided to contest from Bholath assembly segment on AAP ticket”, he said.
Taking a dig at the AAP leader, Babbal said that as Khaira has resigned from the Congress, he should better concentrate on his new political party AAP. “Khaira should focus on AAP, atleast till the time, he remains there. There is no guarantee that he would stay in the same party (AAP) till the elections”, he maintained.
Further, Babbal said that Khaira was regretting leaving the Congress and was desperate to return to the party.
“Khaira was still not confident about contesting from Bholath seat. He was still weighing the options that from which constituency he should contest. If given a choice, he would rather run away from Bholath at the first given opportunity”, Babbal added.
