FATEHGARH SAHIB: Police on Saturday booked AAP leader and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann for allegedly misbehaving with journalists and using objectionable language against them during a rally at Bassi Pathana in Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday.

The FIR was registered on a complaint of secretary of the Journalists’ Association of Fatehgarh Sahib Ranjodh Singh. “Police have also informed the Lok Sabha speaker about the FIR against the MP and some other party workers,” said Harcharan Singh Bhullar, Fatehgarh Sahib senior superintendent of police.

Mann is already in trouble and facing a probe for shooting a video on his phone of his drive from his home in South Avenue near Parliament to inside the building, briefly detailing the security arrangements on his way and then posting it on Facebook. Bhullar has also asked deputy superintendent of police Bassi Pathana to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a report in two days.

Mann allegedly instigated party volunteers to throw media persons out of the rally venue at Fatehgarh Sahib’s Bassi Pathana, after journalists questioned him about a sex scandal resulting in the ouster of AAP minister Sandeep Kumar in Delhi.

As soon as he asked the media persons to leave “or people will throw you out”, party volunteers tried to snatch cameras and also manhandled journalists, who had to run out of the venue.
