‘HOUSE MISLED’ Party leader Jakhar says Dy CM had misled assembly on providing sewerage and water supply in the state

JALANDHAR: The chief spokesman of the Congress, Sunil Jakhar, said that the party would move a privilege motion against deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for misleading the house by giving wrong information in the assembly.

SAYS SUKHBIR HAD PROMISED 100% SEWERAGE AND WATER SUPPLY IN 3 MONTHS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR

In a press conference, Jakhar said that during the budget session in March this year, Sukhbir had made announcement in the assembly that the state government would spend `6,083 crore on urban development to provide 100% sewerage and water supply in the state and the project will be completedwithin three months, but nothing has been done so far. Alleging that Badal misled the house on this front, Jakhar said that it is a clear case of breach of privilege.

Jakhar, accompanied by Congress leader Navjot Dahiya, said that the government issued an advertisement in papers in which it claimed that `1,735.6 crore were used in Bathinda and `2,186.3 crore in Jalandhar.

Showing documents, Jakhar also accused him of giving incorrect information in the ads and informed it had received `63.77 crore under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) programme, but the amount was never used for development. He alleged that the entire money was spent in the sangat darshan programmes.

Over the deteriorated law and order situation in the state, he also said that the Congress would raise the issue in the assembly in the coming session.
