Chandigarh : Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh today denied that the party announced a list of candidates for the state elections, reports of which are circulating in the social media, saying it is the handiwork of some “mischievous elements to create confusion”.

He said the list being circulated on the social media was bogus. Since morning three separate lists of 54 candidates were being circulated on the social media.

Incidentally, the PPCC is in the final stages of shortlisting the first list of candidates that has to be sent the screening committee.

Capt said, “Unlike other parties the Congress has a proper, transparent and a well-established system for finalising the candidates.”

He disclosed that the list of applicants was still with the PPCC and it was being scrutinised for various eligibility criteria prescribed for the candidates by the party. The list will be submitted to the high command within a week.
