JALANDHAR: Sacked Aam Aadmi Party Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur on Wednesday alleged that AAP was fielding tainted candidates in the upcoming assembly polls in the state.

Aam Aadmi Party’s former Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur addressing a rally during his Parivartan Yatra at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall in Jalandhar on Wednesday.

“Of the 32 candidates named by the AAP so far, 20 are tainted. Tickets were sold to them,” alleged Chhotepur while addressing the Punjab Parivartan Yatra here.

Chhotepur’s remarks come a day ahead of AAP national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s fourday visit to Punjab beginning Thursday.

Sharpening his attack on the AAP over alleged financial irregularities, he alleged that crores of rupees were donated by non-resident Indians (NRIs) to the party in Punjab but no one knows where this money had vanished.

“I am not aware of any bank account of the party in Punjab and party should come clean over fund collections from Punjab”, he said.

“I was suspended from my post even before the inquiry was completed which is really surprising,” said Chhotepur, adding that at least the party should release the video.

On appointment of Gurpreet Ghuggi as new Punjab convener, Chhotepur said he (Ghuggi) will be used by the Delhi team leaders and later axed.

He said leaders of newly floated Awaaz-e-Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu, Pargat Singh and the Bains Brothers have not met him.

On former MP Jagmeet Brar’s support to the AAP, Chhotepur said three months back, he had met Kejriwal and talked about Brar’s inclusion in the party at that time the Delhi CM had rejected the idea. “The party appears to have changed its stance,” he added.

He said most of his supporters were asking him to float a new party. “I will clear the air after the Parivartan rally comes to an end on September 16,” he added.
