Chandigarh : Suspended AAP MP Dharamvira Gandhi on Wednesday said he has not been contacted by representatives of newly-formed Awaaz-e-Punjab, floated recently by cricketer- turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and others.

Sidhu is slated to speak to the media on his and Awaaz-e-Punjab’s future course of action on Thursday.

“We have not been called (by representative of Awaaz-e- Punjab) yet and we are also not taking any initiative in this regard,” the Patiala MP said.

Gandhi was asked if he was contacted or had held meeting with former BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sidhu or ex-hockey captain MLA Pargat Singh for supporting or joining Awaaz-e-Punjab. Notably, Awaaz-e-Punjab has been floated by Sidhu, Pargat along with two MLA brothers- Simarjit Singh and Balwinder Singh Bains - with an “aim to save Punjab”.

Asked if he will join Awaaz-e-Punjab, Gandhi said, “We may join on the basis of our ideas. If they do not agree to it then we may not.”

On Thursday, Sidhu along with Pargat and the Bains brothers will address media here to share plans of Awaaz-e-Punjab. Gandhi had earlier announced formation of ‘Lok Punjab Front’ to confront the “politics of faces” with the “issue-based politics”.

“We are coming out with policy statement and vision for Punjab. Sidhu coming or going, Kejriwal coming or going...we do not want faces, we want Punjab issues to be central to every political discourse and thinking,” Gandhi said.
