Chandigarh : Leader of Opposition Charanjit Singh Channi today demanded the registration of an FIR against Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, Revenue Minister Bikram Majitha and their associates for “heading” the drug mafia in the state. He sought their immediate arrest. Channi submitted two complaints to DGP Suresh Arora.

He alleged that the state had been turned into a drug heaven with the mafia having a free run under the patronage of the top Akali leaders. He pointed out the name of Majithia had surfaced in the drug scam long time ago. He said Sukhbir was the Home Minister and he was directly responsible for the drug menace in the state.

On sand mafia, he alleged that the sites of sand mining had not been auctioned, but illegal mining was going on, causing a loss of thousands of crores of rupees to the exchequer.
